Granted BF1 may have been ahead of it's time, but it's also a year old, so my biggest gripe with WW2 is the unmistakably inferior gameplay. I'm a little surprised to see that such a huge franchise not only fails to push the envelope on graphics/emersion/sound, but doesn't even seem to meet the expectations set by games like Battlefield 1 and Ghost Recon Wild Lands. I had fun with the story which took me around 9 hours to play through on regular difficulty. I would say this is the best COD campaign to date, but unfortunately that's a rather low bar set by a series who clearly focuses on the multiplayer aspect. Now-a-days if I buy a shooter it's mostly for the Campaign play.
